Description

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." This phrase by George Orwell from Animal Farm has passed into history and the common consciousness of many different peoples from different cultures, speaking to the hearts of all thinking people who know how to appreciate the goods of parliamentary democracy.
Who says it? The farm pigs, which, after the revolution against the human masters and their overthrow, do not establish equality among the animals, which was the original goal of the revolution, but a totalitarian regime under the absolute power of the pig named "Napoleon."
An allegorical novel, written in 1945 (just three years before the "sister" work, 1984), Animal Farm is inspired by the events and consequences of the Russian Revolution of 1917: how the vision of a society of equal citizens gradually transformed into a nightmarish, authoritarian regime that imprisoned and killed dissenters.
Orwell's critique of Stalinism (largely born out of his experiences in the Spanish Civil War) finds its culmination here, before 1984.
Now a classic work, Animal Farm has been beloved by completely different generations of readers and has been adapted many times in film, television, theater, and even comics."
