Description

"[...] We would not know anything else about the drama "Korinthies" by Kosmas Politis if it did not unexpectedly appear in the Scientific Bulletin Paravasis of the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Athens, specifically in the sixth volume of the "Studies" series, where many further details related to the Stathateian Drama Competition of the Society of Greek Playwrights were recorded. According to these, Kosmas Politis anonymously submitted the play "Korinthies" to the Stathateian Drama Competition, which was assigned the file number 40 (out of a total of 90 nominations) and the date 8.10.1930. We read that special attention was given to Kosmas Politis' work and that it was ultimately ranked among the fifteen prize-winning plays [...] However, the manuscript/typewritten copy of the play "Korinthies" did not remain hidden, as implied in the aforementioned Bulletin and as was generally believed until a few years ago, but it was included in the "Kosmas Politis Archive" which was donated in 2007 to the Library of the Athens College. [...] At least, the (first) work of his, the play "Korinthies", will no longer be "solitary and companionless", as it will now take its place alongside the others. [...] Therefore, it is up to today's Critique to once again judge the quality of this play. The verdict is out!"
