This volume, the eighth in the series of works by Antonio Gramsci, is a volume different from the previous ones. It is a collection of his most important texts that were published in Greece on the occasion of the forty years since the publication of the "Intellectuals".

Therefore, he insists that the prestige of the new historical bloc cannot be based solely on material or formally ideological superiority. It also needs its ethical legitimation. This discarded, particularly in our days, in the unexplored value element, is what the great Italian thinker earnestly sought and ultimately emerged as an indispensable prerequisite for any future socialism he dared to pursue.

A tool of memory, reflection, acquaintance with the most substantial, representative, and timeless part of his work, but also a tool for critically reestablishing the present with the aim of the future, this edition aspires to be in the hands of the active reader/citizen.
