The Epic of '40 was not a miracle. It was the result of painstaking, systematic, and collective national effort. It has the ability, even today, to rekindle the Greek spirit and guide it out of the quagmire it finds itself in. The Greeks of '40 - those who were on the front lines, as well as those who supported them with their pens, namely the journalists - managed to overcome enormous difficulties and fulfill their duty. Everyone had experienced the cold, the mud, the snow, the rain, the lice, the thirst, the hunger, and the waiting. Soldiers and war correspondents fought their daily battles side by side from different vantage points. Today, we turn to them, to their writings, to the newspapers of '40-'41, in order to unravel the uncertain struggle that began in Epirus.
