Get ready for takeoff with the first Thrustmaster joystick that combines magnetic technology with flight controls inspired by the world of civil aviation (the Airbus A320 family).
An ergonomic 1:1 scale replica inspired by the iconic Airbus sidestick, the TCA Sidestick Airbus Edition ensures unique handling.
The contactless H.E.A.R.T (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) system, without potentiometers, gives the sidestick unlimited lifespan and ensures optimal accuracy during flights.
The throttle integrated into the base of the joystick includes a reverse thrust function, a unique feature in aircraft. This is a significant advantage as it helps you perform related maneuvers and ensures that your landings are always perfectly controlled.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
It is worth it at a price below 80 euros, of course I was being cheap and didn't buy the set with the throttles which I believe would have been even better
Purchased for 60 euros, it has a very good feel, and the non-magnetic z-axis doesn't give you a different sensation, unless you have tried more than 5 joysticks. With the small built-in quadrant it comes with, you can get the job done if you change it from the settings to a normal axis instead of a reverse axis, and the 16 buttons are very useful. If you are reading this review to decide whether to buy it, I advise you to get it if you want a realistic experience in a flight simulator.
Very good first impression. Good, sturdy construction. It connects with a USB and is ready to use. I use it for MSFS20. It responds perfectly to every movement. It's good to combine it with a throttle as its own is a bit small and doesn't give you the feeling it should.
It was purchased at a price of 60 euros. The feeling it has is very good and the appearance is perfect. It also has the right weight so that it does not lift by itself during use without being heavy. The throttle slider is difficult to use as the movement distance is small, but not impossible. Personally, I still don't have a throttle and I use this one, although it is difficult and not convenient, it gets the job done.
Now the big problem with this joystick is the twist, which is usually used as a rudder if you don't have pedals. It has a CLEAR design problem, as it is a very common issue if you search for it online.
After 1-2 weeks of use, the rudder started moving to the left on its own at random times, even if I didn't touch it. This happened in both Microsoft Flight Simulator and DCS, which made me believe that it is a firmware problem. Looking at the calibration in both games, the rudder axis jumps to the left and unfortunately, it jumps so much that it reaches the middle or end of the axis, which means that no matter how much deadzone I set, it doesn't make any difference and doesn't solve the problem. Searching online, it seems to be a very common issue that almost all TCA sidestick airbus edition have, and the problem is that the cables are loose or too loose, resulting in them either being pulled or pressed and giving the potentiometer a wrong signal. Although a potentiometer is indeed used for this movement, the problem seems to be with the cables and not the potentiometer itself. This is why it receives 4 stars instead of 5, as it is a known problem that Thrustmaster doesn't seem to have fixed years after the release of this specific joystick. Other than that, it is excellent for its price.
It was purchased on 28/11/22 for €42. Coming from the classic ancient joystick of logitech attack, which broke after about ten uses, and I have to say it's an incredible experience in star wars squadrons that I'm using it for. It is very well made and what made me buy it is that it has magnetic technology instead of a potentiometer, so theoretically it always gives unlimited lifespan to the sidestick. The abundance of buttons (16) is also useful. If any problem arises, I will come back.
Very good even for non-simulator uses. It has zero deadzone due to the magnet, but unfortunately the rudder (Z) is with a potentiometer so after a long time it may have problems.
Perhaps the best Joystick especially if you fly Airbus. The only thing that could have been a little better is the throttle (too small), but then it would prevent you from buying the more expensive add ons.
Very high-quality construction, ambidextrous, practically nonexistent deadzone.
UPDATE: After using it, I realized that for the rotation (Rudder/yaw), it has a simple potentiometer and not a magnetic (hall effect) one like for X and Y.
