What previous reviewers say is true. The sharpener is cheap for what it offers. I should add that it saved 20 very expensive colored pencils that had fallen and cracked externally. EVERY sharpener would break them and a few extra millimeters of the tip. I panicked, read reviews, and bought the Mars sharpener. The problem never occurred again. Easy to use and clean. It sharpens both thick and triangular pencils. I can't imagine the mechanism getting dull quickly, but be careful not to sharpen wax crayons or oil pastels or pastel/chalk - it definitely sharpens them, but according to reviews from abroad, it wears out faster this way, which is logical. Fantastic product!

It sharpens common Faber-type pencils clockwise for a sharp point, counterclockwise for soft graphite or wax pencils (e.g. 5.6mm) or colored pencils for drawing, etc., gently for technical applications.
