The work "The Law of Mediation" is an in-depth analysis of the new institutional framework for mediation in Greece, aiming to assist both mediators and legal representatives during their mediations and clarify issues that may arise during the practical application of the institution.

After an introduction to alternative dispute resolution methods (ADR), in order for the reader to understand the broader framework of extrajudicial dispute resolution, the work continues with references to the basic provisions of Directive 2008/52/EC, which also served as the vehicle for the introduction of the institution of mediation in the member states.

The majority of the work is dedicated to the interpretive approach of Law 4640/2019 and the new regulations it introduces, reintroducing mandatory participation in the mediation process and significantly expanding the scope of applicable disputes.

In this context, the basic principles of mediation, the ways to resort to it, as well as the procedure, exceptions, and sanctions regarding the Mandatory Initial Mediation Session are analyzed. Special mention is made of the issues that require attention regarding the mediation process and the duties of the mediator, as well as the Code of Ethics that they are called to adhere to.
