Timeless wisdom on managing anger in personal life and political affairs from the Roman Stoic philosopher and statesman Seneca.
In his treatise titled "On Anger" (De Ira), the Roman Stoic thinker Seneca (c. 4 BC-65 AD) argues that anger is the most destructive passion: "No plague has caused greater harm to humanity."
The excellent translation of selected excerpts from the work "On Anger" combined with the enlightening introduction offers the reader a timeless guide to avoiding and managing anger. It vividly describes why this emotion is so dangerous and why controlling it could be extremely beneficial both on an individual and societal level.
With unparalleled eloquence, drawing from his vast arsenal of rhetoric, Seneca structures his "indictment" against anger with escalating intensity, including historical examples—especially from the horrific reign of Caligula—anecdotes, and witticisms.
Today, as the lack of civility in discourse increasingly affects public dialogue, Seneca's thoughts on anger are more relevant than ever. Whether seeking personal growth or political renewal, the reader will find in Seneca's wisdom a valuable antidote to the pathologies of an angry age.

I didn't like it at all and it didn't hold my interest. It had examples from ancient times. Bad.
Tremendous book, it changed me as a person for the better. When you learn to control your anger, life becomes more peaceful and enjoyable not only for yourself but also for those around you. It is small in size, without being tiresome. I recommend reading it again because the second time you understand things that may have escaped you the first time or simply need to reread something to fully comprehend it. Perhaps my favorite book.
