Incredible razor. Unfairly compared to the Edwin Jagger 316, this one is indeed a bit more aggressive but has better blade safety than the 316. Deeper shave but smoother. I think someone could easily have only this in their life, just like with the Merkur 34c. It all depends on the blade for how aggressive of a shave you want.
The best thing I have tried in terms of safety razors. First of all, as soon as you hold it in your hands, you realize that it has incredibly high-quality construction. Sturdy, and I would say elegant. First shave with a 1-day beard using a Gillette Nacet blade and Haslinger soap, I didn't feel any blade, cuts, or irritations. Enjoyable shaving experience, just like the sound it makes while shaving. It's a shame I didn't discover it earlier. Treat yourself to a nice gift, I think this one is definitely worth it and more.
So, I'm back.
My initial opinion about this specific machine was very good. Now that I found the blade that suits my own face, I must bow down to its capabilities.
On the matter at hand. With the Zaza Platinum blade, which is also sold within the country, two-day-old hair and three passes, meaning the first one with the direction of the hair, the second one perpendicular, and the last one against, the face shone.
No irritation and no cuts.
My advice to all of us, and primarily to myself: Let's try different blade labels until we find what suits the machine we purchased.
Very aggressive for my taste, with a very large blade gap and poor center of gravity. The construction quality is very good, but it lacks in the details and makes the overall experience mediocre.
The machine has amazing build quality and a perfect grip. With a little practice, it has excellent performance and a smooth feel. It also needs the appropriate blade, of course.
When the craftsman is in the mood.
Where to start and where to finish?
An excellent machine in all aspects with very good quality construction, as the name Muhle requires. Visually, it is a masterpiece that you can't get enough of admiring. In terms of practicality: a deep and high-quality shave that translates into a few passes but also requires special attention because mistakes are not allowed.
There is no fear of it falling as the handle has a non-slip construction that protects against accidents and problems.
I highly recommend it without reservation.
The best machine that has passed through my hands along with the Merkur Progress 510. Shaving without any irritation, with my favorite Permasharp & Bic Astor blades. The quality of construction, the flawless finish, the grip, and the balance it has are unmatched. A machine for aggressive shaving that provides a deep and effortless shave without fear of cuts. Combined with a good soap, the glide it provides on the skin is fantastic. Recommended for purchase. It is a machine that with a little care, you will have it for your great-grandchildren. Its price is a bit high, but it is worth every penny. A machine that you can stick with and never have to worry about again.
I am excited about the use, the construction quality, the perfect grip (it doesn't slip from your hand even if you want to...) and, of course, the performance: Ideal balance between "aggressiveness" and safety and depth of shaving (with the "right" blade, of course) that one would expect from an open comb razor.
I believe it is worth experimenting with several different blades to find which one suits you (and her) the most. So far, I have tried Nacet, Perma Sharp, Feather, Astra green, Astor/Bic (the "classic red box you find at newsstands) and Wilkinson Sword. Personally, I have been won over by Perma Sharp (not only in the Rocca), but the razor manages to bring out the best "self" of each blade! Even with Wilkinson Sword, which I consider to be slightly less sharp, it shouldn't be called a "blade", with this particular razor I achieved a shave within acceptable limits.
Truly amazing!
