The interface of computers aims at their communication for the exchange of information between users or access to electronic information centers. The role of the communication provider has largely been assumed by the Internet. As a result, widely used applications and services are usually compatible with the rules of the Internet. The compatibility of application software ensures that computers can communicate regardless of the network infrastructure, as they converge at the Internet level without guaranteeing the quality of communication. The latter is a difficult problem, especially if one considers the constantly increasing volume of information. Networks of wide bandwidth, i.e. connections and high-speed telecommunications switches, provide a solution to this problem by ensuring reliable and delay-free delivery of information packets to Internet distribution centers and terminal equipment.

Given that the dominant technology is that of broadband Internet, both in wired and wireless communications and applications, this book covers both the topics of Broadband Networks and Internet Technologies in two distinct parts.
