Description

Was Alexander a "genius," a "half-god," a "visionary strategist," or a "madman," a "fortune seeker," a "barbarian," a "wild child"? Was he truly "great" and how great was he?

The information we have about him, about his life and work, is indirect, and the assessments are numerous and contradictory. Over the approximately two and a half thousand years since Alexander lived until today, thousands of researchers have delved into the phenomenon of "Alexander the Great" with different intentions. However, no one, at least no Greek, has approached this "great child" with such understanding, tenderness, care, and admiration as Aristomenes, the wise old follower and counselor from Salamis, Cyprus, who faithfully and devotedly followed him from the siege of Tyre to the ends of Hyrcania and his return to Babylon, that is, until his death, and described him in his everyday life: his companions, his revelries, his confessions, his visions, his dilemmas.

Dr. Nicias Leivadas, a doctor, researcher, painter, writer, with five novels, novellas, essays, studies, etc. to his credit, of Cypriot origin himself, chose the most suitable person, Aristomenes, the Salaminian costume designer, to enter the scene of Alexander and observe him very closely, almost firsthand, in order to give us a brilliant novel where the narration of a myth, like the life of Alexander, combines in an excellent degree the epic and the warmth of a fairy tale in its most classical sense with the demands of historical biography.

An "Alexander" seen from another perspective. A reconstruction of his contradictory image, stemming from the contradictions of his biographers, attributing "to Caesar what is Caesar's," as an act of justice.
