With this title - "The End of Our Small Town" - a collection of short stories by Dimitris Hatzis was first published in Romania in 1953, by the publishing house "Nea Ellada". It contained five out of the seven stories, namely: "Sioulas the Tobacco Man", "Sampethai Kampilis", "Our Aunt Angeliki", "The Professor's Will", "Marguerite Perdikari". In October 1959, the story "The Grave" was published for the first time in "Epitheorisis Technis" and in February 1962, the story "The Detective" was published in the same magazine. In 1963, while Hatzis was in Hungary, the first complete edition of the collection was released, printed at A. Kouloufakos Printing House, on behalf of "Epitheorisis Technis". In 1971, the third edition was published with an epilogue by Dimitris Rautopoulos titled "Dimitris Hatzis' Modern Greek Lesson" (pub. "Diogenes"). Since then, three more editions have been made: "Pleias", 1974, "Keimena", 1979 (definitive edition, corrected by the author) and "Zodiac", 1989. [...]
Dimitris Hatzis' grandfather and father were typographers; in their honor, the book was typeset in 1999, for this edition, in the monotype of the Palivogiannis Brothers, paginated and printed at the classic printing house "Manoutios" of Christos Manousaridis.
