If you're thinking of getting just one book to find some guidance on raising your child, I think this book is enough to cover you. The experiential stories make you fully understand the situation it refers to and you can interpret it as well as devise the way you will act in a similar situation. I find it a very helpful book not only for people with children, but for each one of us.
It is a commendable book, with good and beautiful writing. Sometimes we want to read and get some ideas on how to handle situations since our daily life wears us out.
I bought it with the purpose of healing my wounds from a difficult childhood, and more so, if you will, to "forgive" my parents by reading from a different perspective that I may not have considered if I were not a parent yet! I can say that in the beginning, this happened and the book fulfills its purpose quite well because I saw things from a different perspective! I approached it purely from the side of the child who has now become an adult around 30 and is trying to see things from a different point of view! However, quite early on, around the first 130 pages, I noticed firstly that although I had read that the book is addressed to both parents and children, it is clearly aimed at parents! And even though its title suggests that it is directed towards the wounded child who was hurt by their parents and before they become parents themselves, it encourages them to read this particular book, for example! In many chapters, however, besides the stories of the author's patients that make sense, many things that you cannot understand and relate to if you haven't become a parent yet. It is normal that when you haven't gone through a pregnancy, either as a mother or as a father, some things, no matter how understandable they may be when you read them, you cannot directly connect with them since you don't have that specific experience in your "biography"! And besides that, I would also say that the translation is not one of the best that I have read because in many instances, the translation is clearly translated from English to Greek, resulting in it not making sense in Greek. And if you don't know English well enough to be able to translate it in your head and make sense of it in English, then it doesn't make any sense in Greek. For me, it was relatively easy because I know English perfectly, but for someone who doesn't know the language, the Greek translation in many instances won't make much sense, only from the context! Maybe at some point, I will come back and finish it, but for now, I have left it at page 130... quite boring!
As a new mom, I found it extremely useful. It helped me better understand my relationship with my child, how to analyze situations, and how to act accordingly.
I am in the middle of the book.. it says nice things but it uses examples within examples... which becomes tiresome... I prefer a more direct explanation of things...
Very nice book, understandable with examples without imposing and creating guilt. It doesn't provide ready-made solutions but helps in understanding oneself and children, and I would say also parents. No matter the age of the children. It is food for thought to help children develop what they are and to change the perspective a bit from the classics.
I recommend it to everyone. I haven't read another book like it. Nice and without someone having children!!
Useful, but I find the encouragement to sleep in the same bed with our child excessive. Firstly, it is dangerous for the baby. Secondly, it is detrimental to the couple's relationship. And I'm not even talking about times when the child is sick.
A wonderful book for parents of both young and older children. Within its pages, there are answers to many everyday small problems that may not actually be problems after reading it.
Much ado about this particular book for no reason.. I have read another book by the same author that was exceptional. This one seemed quite "strict," with many "musts" and restrictions. A lot of fuss over nothing, maybe I had high expectations..

A book that should not be missing from the library, even if the children are a little older, I believe it is still useful. It is very easy to read and gives accurate advice without tiring you
Excellent book!! I highly recommend it to everyone, especially to future parents!!! It is one of those books that you want to read again and again!! It uses very simple language, it doesn't tire you, on the contrary, you don't want to let it out of your hands, it covers a wide range of life situations and everyday life and it also provides many stories-examples that help even more!! Perfect idea for a gift to future parents!!
