Theoclitos Dionysiatis wrote to me, God has honored me to know, among others, the holy Sophronios the hesychast and recluse, who lived in the Holy Monastery of the Precursor in Essex, England, during the last period of his life and there he ended his life in 1993 at the age of 97.

My acquaintance with him was long and very strong. I had intense concerns and profound searches, and he responded with love and paternal interest. From the beginning, I understood that I was facing a 'monolith' of hesychastic life, with profound repentance, self-reproach, and hesychastic theology. He himself had many spiritual experiences, but he was a carrier of a hesychastic tradition, which was expressed by 'the giant of the spirit' St. Silouan the Athonite, who lived prophetically and transmitted the treasures of the spiritual depth of Mount Athos."
