The Swiss Emil Zaugg served as a high-ranking executive at the engineering company Brown Boveri & Co (now ABB) during the decades 1930-1960. The company, with its sole representative in Greece at the time, Georgios K. Papakonstantinou, undertook, among other things, the installation of the First Electricity Unit of the Public Power Corporation in Ptolemaida in 1959, just as electricity was being introduced to the Greek public.
In 1960, Zaugg visited Greece again, this time with the purpose of getting to know it better. He traveled throughout the country for a month and, two years later, repeated the trip, adding new destinations.
Enthusiastic and moved by Greece, Zaugg recorded his impressions, typed them up, and in 1963, sent them to Georgios K. Papakonstantinou, whose archive they were recently found in.
