For more than a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves lived together relatively peacefully. But times have changed, the fragile peace has now ended, and the races are fighting each other once again. The only good elf is a dead elf.
Geralt of Rivia, the cunning monster hunter known as the Witcher, awaits the birth of a child who, according to prophecy, will have the power to change the world, for better or worse.
As the threat of war looms over the land, dark forces hunt the child because of the unusual powers it possesses. Geralt takes on the task of protecting it... and for the Witcher, defeat is not an option.

Incredible book, and that's where Geralt's whole story with Ciri and Yennefer begins.
It shows how the author has changed the way he writes and the style in which he describes events. There is a significant difference in reading between the stories and the Odyssey that unfolds in this book, as well as in the next 4.
The only downside is the translation, which continues to be "annoying" as it mentions names in the wrong way (but maybe it's also the correct way based on the translation from Polish to Greek, but I will insist that it's annoying because I know the names of the characters from other sources and it can't be read differently)
The 3rd book of the series is excellent... Very good translation.... In this particular book, the stories cease to be self-contained, and thus a flow begins to exist in the universe of the Witcher
Good translation by K. Skandali. I would have preferred Huliaras, who translated the first two books. The translation from Polish to Greek is much better than the one in English, for the simple reason that many concepts, meanings, and words are closer, but can also be more easily conveyed when dealing with "related" cultures. In this particular case, the Balkans. Thus, in Greek, the translation is more faithful compared to countries like Western Europe. The book is full of stories, images, smells, and sounds that transport you to the forefront of the action...
