Description

This literary work aims to cover the teaching of the course "Statics I" for students of the Departments of Educational Civil Engineering Works and Educational Infrastructure Works of the Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (A.S.PA.I.T.E.), according to the detailed curriculum. It also serves as a useful aid for students of Technical Institutes and Polytechnic Schools.

Due to the author's many years of teaching experience, emphasis was placed on enriching it with numerous numerical examples and exercises, rather than extensively developing the theory, as this achieves faster, easier understanding and greater ease in solving Statics problems. Furthermore, the intention was to satisfy a longstanding request from students, namely the existence of a book with the aforementioned structure and content as its subject matter.

The content of this book refers to static structures, which constitute the subject matter of the course "Statics I".

Statics, of course, is one of the fundamental courses for the specialization of Civil Engineers and Mechanical Engineers. Knowledge of it is necessary in order to dimension our constructions to be safe.

Statics also examines bodies in equilibrium. According to Newton's first law, if the vector sum of the forces acting on a body is zero, then the body is either at rest or moving in a straight line at a constant speed.

The loads of the constructions dealt with by Statics are static, i.e. independent of time. In contrast to Dynamics, which deals with dynamic loads, i.e. functions of time, and studies the change in velocity caused by dynamic loads. [...]
