The goal of the book is to present, explain, and apply quantitative tools for measuring and analyzing economic concepts and relationships in microeconomics and macroeconomics theory. To this end, three different "modes of expression" are used: verbal definitions and theorems, algebraic expressions, and diagrams.

The use of all three modes of expression aims to equip students and researchers interested in economics with mathematical skills for understanding modern theories. For this reason, the economic concepts used are not presented in detail. However, mathematical concepts are explained to the extent necessary for understanding and for the assistance they may provide in following the economic content of the book.
