The name Gramsci became a fixed point of reference in the labor and progressive movement, in the East and West, in Europe and the United States, in Latin America and Japan. Everywhere, the richness of its applications and the breadth of its themes of perception are emphasized, as well as the originality of a position where the relationship between action, the will of people, and objective conditions is determined without dogmatism and without empiricism. Reading Gramsci's political texts does not mean wanting to diminish their topicality. On the contrary. It means understanding the main causes of a living method, recognizing and examining a theme of renewal of the movement, a search around the driving forces of change in a world that remains unjust even today.
For the life of his country, for the struggles of the popular classes, Gramsci was an exceptional witness. However, this is not the last reason for the importance of his texts. These texts offer valuable material for the history of the labor movement, a source and at the same time an interpretive framework for the difficult battles of the future. Their value remains timeless, as, by common agreement, the great personal power, the stamp of Gramsci's speech, makes them a classic work of world political literature.
