A shining page of Greek participation in the liberation movements of the peoples is the action and role they played in Spain during the civil war. Volunteers in the fight against Franco, about 400 Greek brigadistas took part in the anti-fascist war and shed their blood for the freedom of the Spanish people, fighting alongside the International Brigades. Many of them, about 25%, fell in battle. Honor and glory to these fighters who gathered from all parts of the world to defend justice, freedom, and dignity. The Spanish Republic owes a lot to these fighters. Therefore, we expect Spanish democrats to do the right thing and pay tribute to the Greek brigadistas who fought by their side.
