"The Origin of the Work of Art" ("Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes", 1950) is the text that contains the main ideas of Martin Heidegger regarding the philosophy of art. Here it is stated that truth is revealed within the artwork, and therefore art is not primarily concerned with the beautiful and the aesthetic. It is also expressed the belief that "every art is essentially poetry"; this does not diminish other forms of art, such as music, architecture, or sculpture, but rather highlights their deeper meaning. At the same time, Heidegger seizes the opportunity to criticize the contemporary objectification and commodification of artworks, which is evident in the commercialization of artistic enjoyment, in scientific criticism of art, and in museum preservation.
