Description

Jacques Derrida is the proponent of a practice of philosophizing where the main concern of the thinker is the reconstruction (deconstruction) of traditional philosophical concepts of a theological nature, such as the alleged immediacy of the "voice" and the alleged simple notion of the "point", which Derrida reconstructs in his early works after Speech and Phenomena on the concept of the point in Husserl (trans. Olkos 1997). This practice has, of course, learned from Nietzsche, the "philosopher of suspicion", but at the same time leads to an original interpretation, according to which the ambiguity of the "woman" condenses the ambiguity of the traditional notion of meaning - as was the case with the notion of "remedy" in Plato and "supplement" in Rousseau, according to Plato's Pharmacy (trans. Agora 1990) and Grammatology (trans. Knowledge 1990), early studies in the cycle of which this study on Nietzsche is also included. Thus, The Embolus. The Styles of Nietzsche constitutes a unique testimony to the origins and genesis of Derrida's philosophy. Although the phenomenology of Husserl was the methodological starting point for the latter, its development would have been inconceivable without the catalytic presence of thinkers such as Nietzsche and Heidegger, while at the same time this interpretation of Nietzsche brought about a huge upheaval in the framework of the successive readings of Nietzsche's work. The introduction by Golfos Magginis explains in an accessible way who the surroundings are and what is at stake in this work within the framework of 20th century French philosophy and what its contribution has been to Nietzschean studies.
