Hair removal device with IPL technology Lumea Advanced BRI921/00 by Philips. The Philips Lumea Advanced works wonders in reducing body hair.
The gentle light pulses, when applied at regular intervals, keep your skin silky smooth every day.
Technology
IPL means Intense Pulsed Light.
The Philips Lumea device uses gentle pulses of light at the root of the hair, putting the follicles into a resting phase, resulting in a gradual reduction of hair growth on your body.
With repeated application, your skin will be extremely smooth without hair.
It is a safe and gentle method to prevent the reappearance of hair even in sensitive areas.
The Philips Lumea device is clinically tested and developed by dermatologists for an easier and more effective hair removal method from the comfort of your home.
What it offers:
According to objective studies, with just 3 applications you achieve at least 85%** hair reduction.
The first 4 applications should be done every 2 weeks and after these you should see the desired results.
To maintain the results, simply repeat the application every 4 weeks.
Function:
The Philips Lumea Prestige device works effectively, easily, and safely on a wide variety of hair and skin types.
It offers results on natural dark blonde, brown, and black hair colors and on skin tones ranging from very white to dark brown.
As with other IPL-based hair removal applications, the Philips Lumea device cannot be used on white/gray, light blonde, or red hair and is not suitable for very dark skin tones.
This is due to the high contrast of pigments between the hair color and skin tone.
Built-in skin phototype sensor:
The built-in skin phototype sensor offers safety, as it detects the skin color at the beginning of each session, as well as occasionally during the session.
If it detects a skin phototype that is too dark for this product, it automatically stops the pulse emission.
Large window for quick application:
It features a large window for quick application on large surface areas, such as the legs.
Lumea App:
You can download the Lumea app for free to have a unique and personalized IPL technology experience exclusively for you.
It is your personal assistant that ensures you are fully utilizing the Lumea device and using it correctly for long-lasting results.
The app helps you create a personalized usage schedule for each part of your body with tips throughout each treatment.
All you need to do is regularly check the app and stay updated with any notifications or reminders.

It was purchased about a month ago, for around 270. I exclusively used it for shaving legs, bikini area, and underarms, as well as waxing hands, belly line, and mustache, so the hair is thick and strong. I started doing sessions every 7-10 days approximately, and now that I'm on the 3rd session, I'm starting to see the first results. There are sporadic small gaps appearing, while on my leg below the knee, although I see some stubble (I have fair skin with dark hair), the hair hasn't grown at all except for a few areas where it has grown normally.
If there is such a result from the 3rd session, I believe that it will be worth the purchase in the future and more. It will show in the next sessions, which I will return to evaluate.
4/5 because it heats up quickly and takes a considerable amount of time to cover a large area.
I have been truly speechless with this laser. I have it for almost 6 months now and the results are incredibly dramatic!! I had very intense hair growth on my face and arms and now I do laser once a month as only 2-3 hairs come out or none at all. Honestly, it solved my problem!! Incredible!!
It heats up excessively fast, resulting in overheating indication and the need to stop the operation. In other words, I manage to only do one leg below the knee with one zap in each spot and it overheats. I am in the first month of use.
HOWEVER after 2-3 months the results are obvious! Tottaly worth it! I've lost way too much money in beauty salons for nothing. I was doing Alexandtite and diode for years but since the results are not permanent anyways with any method, this is a money saver!
Overall, it is worth it for controlled areas such as bikini, belly, or armpits. It is extremely time-consuming on the legs and it is practically impossible to catch them all. However, it is a very good investment if you have the necessary time and do not want to waste your money on aesthetic centers.
09-07-2024 Additional comment: I have been having sessions here for eight months and even though I use a razor, hair growth is reduced by at least fifty percent. So, it is worth having sessions three times a year and then having minimal hair for the rest of the time. Overall, I still believe that if you don't mind, it is very worth the money.
I saw results after 1 month, I bought it for my armpits, it does an amazing job, now I only shave my armpits twice a month but very few hairs. It's worth the money.
I have been using it for 2 months already. I didn't expect it to be worth so much. I used to shave my armpits and legs for years, and the hair on my armpits completely disappeared with just 4 applications. I had done another laser treatment for my bikini area, but the remaining hairs also disappeared with 4 applications. It is very easy to use but it takes time. Instead of paying 150 euros for each session at a salon, it's better to spend 250 euros once and get rid of it whenever you want. It works on dark hairs. It is not recommended for other areas. Update: after about 10 months of use (and without being consistent with the sessions), 95% of the hair has disappeared from my legs and arms! I no longer have any hair on my bikini area and armpits, only fuzz. I will definitely buy it again if it breaks
It does an amazing job. I've had it for 2 months and I use it on my hands, chest, and stomach. The only negative thing is that I don't know if it has happened to someone else or just me, but some hairs grow back white
It takes patience to see results.
After 1.5 months of use, as the sessions dictate, the hair has completely disappeared from the face, armpits, stomach, and legs, although in some areas it varies.
I am very satisfied, I did not expect it to actually work.
I highly recommend it, it's worth 1000!
Buy it without fear, kids. It's a lifesaver and literally "immortal"! I've had it for 2 years now and the use I've given it is extensive. It does exactly what it promises. I literally only remove 2-3 hairs in the areas where I've done treatment, and usually it's my fault because I forget and don't do the touch-up once a month as recommended. The results are truly immediate if you faithfully follow the application plan, which is once every 15 days. When you finish the plan, it just needs maintenance once a month. I have fair skin and dark hair, and it truly makes all the hairs disappear. I should note that I haven't tried it on my armpits and bikini area. Because the hair there is very coarse, I believe it needs treatment with alexandrite and that's why I went to a dermatologist. Anyway, it's worth every cent! Even if it breaks or burns at some point, I will buy it again without a second thought!
Excellent choice for the money, it works perfectly and without irritation or pain for those with open skin and relatively dark hair. I started in November when I bought it and now in February the hair on my hands and legs has weakened and thinned out significantly. It is essential to follow the time intervals and instructions. I did it every Sunday to catch the hair in all its phases. It requires consistency, don't think that I will zap them for a month and be done, the follicles may regrow. Pay attention to the surface of the skin, the device is a rectangle that emits light. Try not to waste flashes in the same spot or skip "rectangles" on the skin. Before you start, have a good shave and dry skin, no peeling, no creams/oils.
I didn't expect it, but it's definitely worth the money. It has results if you follow the program correctly. It just needs a little more time than the company says because the machine heats up and you have to let it cool for about 15 minutes, but that's a small disadvantage compared to the result.
I have only used it 3 times, so I don't have a complete opinion on the result. I pass each area twice, horizontally and vertically, to make sure I don't miss anything and to ensure good coverage. My skin turns slightly red, but it goes away in a few minutes, although not in all areas where I apply it more (but I have very sensitive skin). I saw results from the second time I used it everywhere except for the bikini line (I don't have hair there due to a different type of laser). The major drawback is that it is very slow (especially for those of us who have to go over areas twice) and the machine heats up quickly and becomes uncomfortable (you feel a burning sensation on the skin). To avoid lowering the intensity, I take many breaks, and it is incredibly time-consuming; it takes me 3-4 days to do my whole body. Apart from the burning sensation due to the heated machine, the IPL doesn't hurt at all, it's nothing like the stronger lasers they use in clinics. If any area hurts a little, it's the armpits. I also use it on my face, bikini area, and chest, even though it's not recommended, and personally, it hasn't caused any issues for me. If it wasn't a gift, I would buy the slightly more expensive one from the same company that has a special head for the bikini area and face. Overall, it seems like a good choice for a more affordable hair removal method, considering that even after 4 years of Alexandrite laser, I didn't see permanent results. As for the trimmer, I would say it's unnecessary; it's only useful for the face, and it comes in a package with IPL, which is not recommended for the face. It's better to trim the rest of the body with medical razors (trimmers) in the direction of hair growth.
The next time, I will write down the time it took for each area of hair removal (including breaks due to overheating).
Edit: It's not worth it. I had stopped the Alexandrite laser for years, and the thinning I had was permanent no matter how much I "disturbed" the hair with wax. As soon as I did this laser, it seemed effective until I stopped doing it for about 3 months due to time constraints. The hair increased and there were more than before! This may be because it doesn't have the power of a laser and activates dormant hair. It's a waste of money, really.
It is an alternative solution to laser. It just requires consistency in the sessions, which I haven't managed to achieve, meaning I always delay. But despite that, I have seen a significant difference and the hair has become sparse and thin. I also use it on my face, even though it normally says it is not recommended with the provided head, and I have seen a tremendous difference. Value for money, clearly.
It does what it says. I highly recommend it. After almost two months, I have seen a significant difference. The hair is thinner and the growth rate has slowed down.
After 2 months of use, I can say that the hairs have decreased by a very large percentage. On my legs, I believe that wherever I still see some hairs is because I have missed that specific spot. Unfortunately, it is easy to miss a spot in a large area like the legs. Also, on the face (mustache, chin), I do not see a huge difference at the moment.
Update after 1.5 years of use: The best money I have spent. Especially when it is summer and you no longer care about shaving your legs, you don't need anything else for me. The mustache and chin have reduced the thick black hairs that used to grow, and if I see any occasionally, they are lighter and finer.
Unfortunately, I see that within 2 years, the price has increased by 100 euros! Unbelievable, really. Instead of the price decreasing as the model gets older, it is increasing!
3rd application on armpits, bikini area, and stomach. The results are very pleasant!! It does the job, very few hairs left, I couldn't believe it but it's worth it in the end!! 80% of the hair is gone, it doesn't hurt at all.. Consistency is needed in the app sessions!!
Keep in mind that it is time-consuming, as each stroke must be at least 4 seconds apart from the previous one. Also, it heats up easily and you can feel it. If you don't have it constantly in contact with the skin until it is ready for the next stroke, then it doesn't heat up as much. But it is incredibly effective. I have had it for 6-7 months and now I am searching for each hair one by one!
Following the recommended frequency of applications, you see results. Personally, I saw results from the second application on my bikini line and underarms. It takes longer for the legs. It requires patience, it's not a laser. However, it's worth the money.
Man. It's worth its money! It does what it says. Very good job on chest, stomach, and genital organs. After 3 times, 80% of the hair is gone!
---- Now I have done it 7 times. I do it every 25 days repeatedly. 90% of the hair doesn't come out.
Job well done
I will not comment on the effectiveness of the product, I just want to mention that it is not an FDA-approved device. Do your research before making a decision.
Having tired of the razor, I decided to make the purchase and due to Black Friday, I got it for 175€. First of all, I have to say that except for a few areas where the sensation was more intense, I didn't feel any pain in the rest. I had it on intensity level 4, with fair skin tone and black hair, and I think it's okay. I shaved my mustache, cheeks, and chin (which I have a major issue with hair growth) in 5 minutes, armpits in another 5, and the whole leg and backside in 1 hour. I closed the device for 10 minutes to let it rest, and it and my hand were all fine. It didn't overheat or anything. It requires attention to have good contact with the skin, but the device is more convenient than I thought for hard-to-reach areas! After my first session, these are my thoughts!
Update 2 weeks later: While I read about results in 2 months, I have already had my second session and the reduction in hair growth is already noticeable! I would say it's a 30% reduction, and it's definitely worth the money and more!
Update 2 months later: On my face, except for 3 persistent hairs, I have forgotten that I had a hair growth problem, no other hair comes out! Armpits still have some weaker hairs, but I believe they will go away a little later. Legs and backside have an 85% reduction (although it looks like freshly shaved, it's not completely smooth and no new hairs grow). I also tried the bikini area on intensity level 3, it doesn't hurt at all, but unfortunately, since I have darker skin there, a red light turns on and it doesn't let me treat the whole length with the laser.
Update 9 months later: First summer I enjoy without a razor! Now I do touch-ups every 4 weeks (if you leave it for 5 or 6 weeks, some hairs start to grow again in certain areas and the flow gets disrupted, so don't do it even as a joke) and 95% of the hairs have disappeared! Also, the device easily overheats, meaning it needs 8 breaks in between for the whole leg and buttocks. It's a bit boring, but if you plan it, for example, while watching a movie, you won't even notice. It's definitely more time-consuming than in the beginning and also annoying to have to do it once a month since it's not as permanent as laser treatments in institutes, but with the money I spent, I don't regret it even 1%! If you don't want to spend a fortune, it's value for money!
I decided to try doing my legs myself because I have some areas that I missed at the salon. I can say that I have exactly the same irritation and the hair burns, I didn't expect such results.
After a while, I left my legs without treating the area and I don't have any growth in many areas, but with one calf, the device overheats and it takes double the time, so I stopped doing sessions on the entire leg.
I have had it for 2 years now, it is a good machine and it withstands, as far as male hair removal is concerned it is perfect for legs, thighs and arms as long as you follow the program.....BUT it has no effect on the chest and I wonder why???? Anyway, it is worth its money as long as you use it on all parts of the body EXCEPT THE CHEST....
I have fair skin and dark hair, the machine is amazing!! From the first application, I already saw a slight thinning, by the 5th, the mustache disappeared, maybe one hair can come out per month, the armpits have had a tremendous result, very few hairs are left, and the legs as well, just a little more difficult on the legs because there might be some areas that you miss. Comparing it to Alexandrite and professional hair removal treatments worth 200€ per session is not valid because we are talking about something completely different here, it is a perfect solution for home hair removal, worth 1000%!!
Basically, no one first waxing (wax/razor) and then using ipl. It is very likely that you will not see any results at the beginning, so you will need to continue the hair removal methods you did before until the next session.
If you want to reduce hair growth, I believe it is a good investment, but if you want an alternative hair removal method where you won't have a single hair in the following days after use, I do not recommend it. It requires a lot of patience.
November update
80% reduction in armpits
60-70% legs/bikini/arms
But if you leave it, it will leave you. They grow back, but slower than before!
Hello everyone, I also bought the device 1.5 months ago and on the 12th of the month I did the 3rd application. I have black hair and fair skin, I used the device everywhere on level 4 and I only felt a slight burning sensation, I didn't get any burns. I have been in the sun, but not for sunbathing. After the first application, I didn't see any difference. After the second application, I noticed a slight thinning. Three days after the third application, I saw a significant thinning on my legs, bikini area, arms, and stomach. It's like I have become hairless, haha. I saw a slight thinning in the armpits. I have been doing laser treatments on my face for 12 years, paying 40 euros per session. Initially, I did it twice a week for a year, then twice a month for 5-6 years, and then once a month. I had given up hope until one day I had an epiphany... Due to the quarantine, I hadn't been to my aesthetician for 2 years (I only had treatments done on my face using a different method, as I mentioned, and for the other areas of my body, I only used a razor or did waxing about 4-5 times, but I stopped due to the pain). I was thinking of going and paying 40 euros just for about 20 hairs on my face that kept growing, so I decided to do some research on photoepilation, without even knowing what it was, I had just heard of it. Well, to cut a long story short... I believe that all these years I was wasting my money on the aesthetician... I am on the 3rd application and for the past 3 days, I have been seeing significant thinning and today I noticed that the hairs in the area below my belly (I did it there too) fall out when I touch them with my hand, the same goes for some areas on my arms! I am amazed, I regret giving away so much money all these years... What a waste!!! Seriously, it's totally worth it!!! Actually, I never thought that I would be able to do something at home and not have hair anywhere! It just requires fair skin, dark hair, a lot of patience, and from what I understood, it takes about 1.5 months to see results and then just maintenance... I just don't look at the laser when I do it, I close my eyes. They say there's no problem, but I'm just afraid, so I ordered special laser goggles (even though photoepilation is not laser, I want to protect my eyes!)
In summary: fair skin, dark hair, stubborn hair, the joy of photoepilation! It's good to shave before the session. It's also good to avoid the sun for a few days, but it's difficult now in the summer. I have bought sunscreen with SPF 50 for the body and face, and also a sunscreen powder (for even more protection). Avoiding the sun is to prevent burns, do a small test on all the areas where you will do photoepilation and voila! Smooth skin forever! I will come back after a month to see the final results!
I have a fair complexion with classic brown hair. I have only used it twice, but I can already see results, mainly in the bikini line and legs where the hair is significantly thinner. It does take me a while to properly use it on my legs with the laser, but let's overlook that. I haven't noticed a difference on my underarms and stomach, at least for now. I will update my opinion after three months when I have a more comprehensive view. However, I can confidently say that it is worth the money, especially if you don't have the financial means for aesthetic centers!
UPDATE: After one and a half months of use, the hair on my legs has almost completely disappeared, they no longer grow. The difference in the bikini area is huge compared to before I started using the laser, about 85-90% of the area has completely stopped hair growth. I now see a difference in my underarms as well, about 60% of the area has already stopped or is no longer wild. I will provide an update on my stomach after three months. I also want to mention that I did Alexandrite on my face and now I maintain it with that. Overall, I am more than satisfied!
UPDATE 2: Three months later, the hair remains the same as it was at one and a half months of use. The most "problematic" area is still my stomach, probably because the hair was originally thin and lighter, resulting in the laser not hitting the hair follicle strongly enough. Advice: do not skip your applications. Due to vacations, I missed some sessions and used a razor, and the hair, albeit slowly, starts to grow back as expected. Be consistent for the best results
