Description

The "war" against "terrorism," in which the criminal invasion and occupation of Iraq was included, as well as the previous wars of the transnational elite (Gulf War, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan), are actually the military expression of the informal political globalization, which complements economic globalization. "Terrorism" of any form is nothing but a symptom of the concentration of political and economic power in the hands of the elite. This concentration has taken enormous dimensions in the New Order marked by capitalist neoliberal globalization and its political complement, representative "democracy".
In this book, political violence, and particularly systemic violence (i.e., the institutionalization of political and economic inequality), constantly escalate for inherent reasons in the New Order, which is imposed either through international economic organizations (IMF, WTO, etc.) or, if necessary, by force. The inevitable consequence is the corresponding rise of political resistance, which today usually takes the form of popular "terrorism" in the South or anti-establishment movements in the anti-globalization movement in the North. The transnational elite, in its struggle against political resistance, now resorts to a new type of "war": the generalized and continuous "war against terrorism" which aims to crush any resistance to the political and systematic violence of the New Order.
