The speakers Debut B6.2 from the company Elac Characterized as bookshelf speakers because they are placed on a shelf or special base, which is sold separately. In this category usually belong the main speakers of a sound system, but due to their small size they can also be used as peripherals for better sound simulation. The power and impedance of them are 120W RMS and 6Ω respectively, which means they can be connected to an amplifier with the corresponding characteristics. This is a speaker 2 way, meaning the sound frequencies are reproduced by two speakers, one tweeter for the high frequencies and one woofer for the low frequencies.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Coming from taga harmony azure b40 v 2 today I received them and as soon as I put them to work I understood the difference. It's still early since they also need the appropriate break-in period they say. Amazing speakers quality finish. I will come back when I finish their break-in. For now, I am amazed. 13/03/24 I come back almost after a month I haven't completed yet the hundred hours they say and the speakers continue to surprise me. As time goes by I feel like I'm listening to another speaker. Excellent in all genres of music mainly in foreign ones that I listen to more house music. For anything else I will come back.
Amazing speakers!
I use them with the Denon 2800 in combination with the Elac C6.2 center speaker and a Polk HTS10 subwoofer.
The speakers are flawless with crystal clear smooth sound (flat) in stereo, which I use for music, and with nice deep bass, in combination with the center speaker and the subwoofer, especially in movies with Dolby Atmos, it is simply A M A Z I N G!
Owner of these wonderful speakers that were purchased to replace the excellent Dali Spektor 2. ELAC is a German company relatively unknown in Greece but well-known and highly praised in European countries and the USA. The Debut series was created by the Hi-End speaker guru Andrew Jones and judging by the result, he did an excellent job.
The Elac Debut B6.2 is a 2-way speaker with a 6-1/2" Woofer made of Aramid Fiber and a 1" fabric dome Tweeter with a metal cover. Its construction is made of high-quality MDF and it weighs approximately 6 kilograms.
The reflex port (bass hole) has been placed by ELAC on the front of the speakers and not on the back as is usually done. This allows them to be placed very close to a wall without losing the clarity of the bass.
Listening to the speakers, even without being properly set up, I was pleasantly surprised. Excellent sound, perfectly balanced, musical, clean, and sweet. Rhythmic, dynamic, they don't impose their personality, they simply reproduce the source flawlessly. Their sound is so clean and transparent that they do not forgive bad recordings or bad sources and expose their flaws.
These speakers are better off playing in a flat state without tone controls as it distorts their quality. It goes without saying that they should be driven by good amplifiers and powered by good sources with proper cables and connectors. Additionally, and because in this country we have an issue with bass! I would like to emphasize that their bass is deep and above all clear, not muddy and dull like in most speakers.
In conclusion, it is a somewhat demanding speaker (it requires a lot of power) that requires proper matching. But if it matches, you will hear a perhaps unprecedented sound, crystal clear as if flowing from them like clear water. They are not speakers that "rock" or "blow you away", not for making the house tremble, not for making the best man and the groom jealous! They are speakers that perfectly reproduce the music, for those who understand what that means.
Personally, I drive them alternately:
1. With the YAMAHA A-S501 amplifier, with sources being the Yamaha CD-S300 and the Audio Technica AT-LP3 turntable.
2. With the pre and power amplifier from the English brand Myryad, manufactured in 1997, and the Rega CD Planet as the source.
I highly recommend them.
Smooth, warm, and sweet sound, it doesn't tire. I have paired it with the Atoll IN80 Signature.
Great speakers, of course they need a good amplifier
