Description

The philosophical contemplation of Plato was at the center of the research and exploration of Russian scholars and researchers of the monumental phenomenon of Russian Philosophical and Theological Renaissance in the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries.

One of the protagonists of this creative movement was Sergei Trubetskoy, a student and friend of the founder of Russian religious philosophy, Vladimir Solovyov, who continued his work and bequeathed us significant texts.

Among these are the two essays published in this volume: "Protagoras by Plato" and "The Foundations of Idealism", in which the Russian philosopher and first democratically elected rector of the University of Moscow develops his own approach to the complex and multifaceted philosophical heritage of the Greek founder of idealism.

In the first essay, the Russian philosopher deals with Plato's dialogue "Protagoras", in relation to the evolution of the ethical ideas of the Greek thinker.

In the second essay, he develops his own approach to the foundation of idealism in contrast to German classical philosophy, but arguing in favor of the ancient, classical conception of idealism as a fundamental current of philosophical heritage.
