The author who undertakes to comment on the books of other authors is vulnerable to compulsive reading - no one gets bored more easily with a book than an author - and to prejudiced evaluation. Without the relieving nonchalance of the professional critic, the author is often tempted to highlight his personal taste as the ultimate criterion.
Petros Tatsopoulos does not underestimate these dangers. However, he also knows that the author, someone who comes from the kitchen of writing, is perhaps the most appropriate to identify the difficulties of each project and to convey to the reader the enjoyment or discomfort that he himself felt. In this volume, he gathers the book reviews he published during the period 2000-2003. Between the hammer and the anvil, sometimes with the stick and sometimes with the carrot, the author tries to exert measured violence - the oxymoronic and distant echo from the unadulterated violence that only a true critic can exercise.
