This is the most recent edition of Anne Stephenson's book and is aimed at undergraduate students and practicing doctors. It includes a distillation of basic concepts of General Medicine as well as chapters on the basic skills of a General Practitioner, for their main activity, the visit, for prescribing. It also addresses issues related to ethics and law in the provision of health services, and preparation for the practice of Medicine. It attempts to capture the process of making evidence-based management decisions, as knowledge and skills are integrated with the doctor's and patient's experience and understanding.

The book is enriched with two types of exercises: points for reflection and discussion, and practical exercises. The latter provide the basis for further exploration of a specific topic. In this edition, multiple-choice questions with one "more correct" answer have been added at the end of most chapters, as well as "flags" that highlight key information about serious illnesses and self-assessment questions at the end of each chapter. Many specific points of the book have been adapted to the Greek data of the Health System.
