A journey through four major cities in Latin America. Known and unknown neighborhoods, full of color, vibrancy, and poverty. Museums, universities, and routes through urban landscapes, through the eyes, associations, and thoughts of a geographer from Southern Europe, who is involved in urban sociology and is interested in the ways in which social distances find expression in structured space. A journey that ends with a visit to a completely different metropolis in the South of the USA, where wealth from oil and the dominance of private cars coexist with the intense separation of social and racial groups in the city.

The text is accompanied by a series of photographs taken by the author during his visit to these five cities.
