The purpose of this study is to present the life and work of one of the important philosophers of Trebizond, Georgios Trebizondios Chrysogonos, who lived in the 18th century. Many scholars, originating from Trebizond, had shown intense activity and with their written work contributed decisively to the improvement of the education of the rulers of the Danube. Among them is Georgios Trebizondios Chrysogonos, whose personality and work were disputed by scholars and especially biographers, who associated him with Georgios Trebizondios Hypomenas. This study clarifies the aspects concerning the personality and work of the professor and later director of the School of Bucharest, Georgios Trebizondios Chrysogonos, drawing information from old and new researchers and mainly from his works, which until now remained unpublished in the library of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest. These are works that come to light with this study and contain elements of the political, ethical, and logical philosophy of Trebizondios.

This work is a challenge for researchers who wish to study the actions and written work of the philosophers who operated in the Danubian principalities and transmitted the Byzantine heritage during a difficult but also renewing period for the Greek nation. Many of the works of the Trebizondian authors are preserved in the library of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest, and it would be desirable for other unpublished works to become known, which would help us delve deeper into the ideological climate of the era and the philosophical thought of these educated scholars.
