When Eragon, a poor farm boy, finds a shiny blue stone in the forest, he feels very lucky for his discovery. Perhaps with it, he can buy the meat his family needs
for the winter.

But when he discovers that the stone hides a tiny dragon inside, Eragon soon realizes that he has been given a legacy almost as old as the Empire itself. Overnight, his simple life is shattered into a thousand pieces. He is then forced to enter a dangerous new world: the world of destiny, magic, and power. Guided by an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller, Eragon and his winged dragon must traverse the perilous land and face the dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a corrupt and demonic king.
