This book provides an introduction to probability and statistics for students in engineering schools and departments of the natural sciences.

It covers the basic laws of probability, characterizations of one-dimensional and multi-dimensional distributions, moments and generating functions, the main models of useful distributions in applications and statistical inference, graphics for exploratory data analysis, point estimation methods and confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, simple and multiple linear regression analysis, and elements of error theory and analysis of measurement systems.

The theory is presented with many explanations and without unnecessary mathematical details, so that the reader can focus on understanding the essence of the concepts and the logic that governs statistical techniques.
