Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The case has mediocre build quality overall. The hard drive bay is of good quality, but the plastic components (mounting rack and support chassis, locking sides) are of mediocre quality. The electronic circuitry is of mediocre quality as well, and the overall finish is average. It appears to be a mediocre quality implementation (cheap and definitely inferior to the selling price) in terms of its individual components. As for performance, the circuitry caused two or three disconnections. It operates at USB 3.1 GEN2 10Gbit/s speeds, which is the supported communication protocol. When used with a SATA3 6Gbps mechanical drive (tested with Toshiba P300 3TB 64mb cache size), it achieves an average sequential write speed of 185mb and a sequential read speed of 198mb when the drive is at least 3/5 empty. In conditions where the drive is 4/5 full, the speeds are respectively 155mb and 135mb. In non-sequential read and write (4kb 32QT1), the speeds drop to 55Mb and 67mb when the drive is 3/5 empty, and to 32mb and 44mb when the drive is 4/5 full. When connected to SSD drives, the speeds are approximately 10% lower than what each manufacturer theoretically supports. Kingston A400 120gb, Samsung 850 Evo 500gb, Samsung 860 Evo 500gb, and Crucial MX500 500gb were tested, and all of them provided read and write speeds that were 7% to 10% lower than the maximum speeds specified by the manufacturer. The circuitry's speed performance is satisfactory. The connection cable (Type C) is relatively flexible, but it requires a secure connection on both sides, as it disconnects when not properly connected. The cheap quality of the cable may also play a role in this. Its length is 80 centimeters. The power supply is external (meaning it does not draw power from the system bus) and has a green LED that lights up when connected to power. The front of the case includes a button to power on/off the circuitry, a power supply port, and a blue LED indicating the status of the circuitry. The case's enclosure is made of brushed aluminum that is resistant to typical pressures. A well-intentioned effort from German brand Fantec, but the overall product is of mediocre to good quality. Three stars are given due to the lack of another rating option (3.5), as the circuitry and the plastic chassis that holds the drive should be of higher quality considering the price of the case. Additionally, the circuitry sometimes experiences interruptions in its electronic connection, possibly indicating a faulty component. The product is mediocre to good, and its current price does not reflect its quality. It should be 35-40% lower.
