Freud is undoubtedly the most controversial philosopher of the twentieth century. He is the man who laid the foundations of modern psychoanalysis. Few philosophers have influenced and changed the course of modern cultural history in Europe and humanity as dramatically and catalytically as he has. Few thinkers have provoked as much with their ideas as he has. Now, perhaps for the first time in a hundred years, it is possible to make a clear and objective critique of the great value of both Freud's thinking and the movement he founded.
