Description

In December 2017, it will be 20 years since the death of Cornelius Castoriadis (26.12.1997). The book by journalist Teta Papadopoulou familiarizes the reader with the multidimensional and fascinating thought of the Greek thinker: his basic philosophical ideas, his perception of democracy, his positions on the crisis of modern Western societies. Among his other important views, he emphasizes: "The Greek people - like every people - are responsible for their own history, therefore they are also responsible for the situation they find themselves in today."

The book consists of three parts - Direct Speech, Same Speech, Speech of Others - and is completed with an Epilogue. The first part includes two major interviews with Cornelius Castoriadis. The second part consists of five texts, interventions, and speeches by him. In the third part, personalities such as Pierre Vidal-Naquet, Adam Michnik, Edgar Morin, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, Aki Orr, Octavio Paz, Lakis Progidis, Gerasimos Stefanatos, and Joel Whitebook write about Cornelius Castoriadis, while the Epilogue presents another interview exclusively on the modern Greek case.
