The first and second book of Strabo's Geography constitute the general introduction to this geographical treatise. Here, the author's ideas about the method of writing a geographical work are reflected. Specifically, reference is made to topics of geography, astronomy, mathematics, and the history of Geography, that is, to sciences that Strabo considers necessary for the study of Geography.
