This collective volume contains a series of texts that concern specific aspects and dimensions of the development of Less Favored Areas, with an emphasis on the Greek space. The texts of the volume cover a wide range of thematic areas such as insularity and its relationship with local and regional development, the role of new technologies and innovation in the development of Less Favored Areas, new trends in the development strategies of rural areas, and the reflection on sustainability and sustainability in Less Favored Areas. Through a series of research findings and empirical data, the ambition of this volume is to contribute to the enrichment of the relatively limited Greek literature on the subject and to the expansion of the discussion on the issues of mitigating regional inequalities in the Greek space through the promotion of an alternative sustainable model of social and economic development in Less Favored Areas.
