It has some play and cannot close unless you press it with your fingers in the right way because the two jaws find each other. If you find the trick, it works, but it doesn't work in 100% of cases.

I didn't have much experience with other cable cutters, but this one definitely does its job. I used it to strip thin speaker wires ~0.6mm and 1.5mm power cables, and I was satisfied.
