The four studies in this volume, written by different individuals who have been engaged with the poetry of M. Pratikakis and his generation, are primarily motivated by the unexpected cloak that has enveloped the poet's lyricism in recent years. This challenge has prompted a reexamination of his previous work by the authors of these studies, resulting in new dimensions being given to the quality of his writing, an attempt to explore different aspects of his techniques, and a different approach to his themes. All of these, together, lead to the elucidation of a complex yet consistent poetic system within its tragic contradictions, and serve as reading aids for a deeper understanding of his entire body of work.
