[...] This book provides a historical overview of the evolution of ideas and technology in the development of thermal analysis. It is followed by an introduction to various thermal techniques with rich organology, and then the various prevailing techniques of thermal analysis and kinetic study of thermal analysis are developed. In each chapter that refers to a specific thermal analysis technique, the introduction, methodology, and organology of the method are provided, followed by its applications in various fields of chemistry, physics, geology, and pharmacology, as well as the corresponding bibliography. Often, thermal methods require complementary techniques in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of the analysis being performed. Thus, simultaneous and combined or sequential techniques have been developed, which are briefly described in this book. Finally, the appendix provides the official nomenclature of thermal analysis (recommended by ICTAC), the knowledge of which is evident for the proper understanding of concepts and communication among scientists involved in thermal analysis.
