Description

This book describes a globally original and shocking action, of the Network of Social Aesthetics Volunteers for 33 years, in a narrative way but also with rich photographic material. That is, the joys, difficulties, vindication, and satisfaction of the aestheticians from their relationships with the people who accepted their touch. The reader will have the opportunity to get to know with vivid narratives the unique life and pure soul of these people without having to pass through the high walls of the Institutions. The program was completed at the Dromokaiteio Psychiatric Hospital of Attica by a voluntary group of aestheticians, from 1980 until today. Twenty aestheticians took care of one hundred and forty patients, in a research program that concerns:

  •  The improvement of mental health in 1980.
  •  The improvement of the social rehabilitation of mentally ill patients in 2014.

The positive results of both studies given by the scientific committee are included in the appendix of the book. The book also includes: poems written by mentally ill patients, and paintings created by mentally ill patients.
