Whether they focus on his eccentric personalities, his language, or even on political and ideological issues, the works in this volume create a network of connections that highlight the inherent modernism of Skaribas and illuminate the distance that separates him from his contemporaries. The subject of study in this volume is both his prose and his poetry, as the author has given a hyper-ideological identity to his literary universe, reshaping the same themes that were first established in his prose, either in poems or in plays, and housing poems in his prose work that also appear in his poetry collections. The methodological tools adopted correspond to the multifaceted writing project of the author, with the aim of highlighting the polysemy of his personal mythology and the tropes of his writing. Dictated by the complexity of Skaribas' primary work and the final destination of a research journey that began about twenty-five years ago, these studies have been selected as proposals for work in an open and potentially fruitful field. Their goal is to fertilize the critical ingenuity of younger scholars, highlighting the dynamics of Skaribas' language, which was not determined by the enclosed provincial space of its production, but by the unmediated and idiosyncratic eccentricity of its creator.
