Disclaimer: This review is for a very specific use. I say this because it may not interest most people, but when I was looking for a hard drive for the following use, such a review would have helped me avoid buying hard drives that didn't work in the end.
tl:dr An excellent SSD to connect to a Raspberry Pi 4. Combine it with a Sata to Usb enclosure and simply connect it to the Raspberry Pi (after flashing an operating system on it).
For a while now, I have been looking for an SSD so that I can boot from USB on my Raspberry Pi 4.
Other external SSDs that I had tried (such as the https://www.skroutz.gr/s/12526836/Intenso-Premium-Edition-256GB-%CE%91%CE%BD%CE%B8%CF%81%CE%B1%CE%BA%CE%AF.html) didn't do the job for me and had problems with booting. The solution for some of them involved connecting it to a Linux operating system so that it could open its file system and change some files (which are not visible from Windows, for example, which I have).
I read that many people on the Raspberry Pi forum use this specific drive to do exactly what I was looking for, so I tried it.
Absolutely satisfied. Out of the box, plug and play. It worked perfectly on the Raspberry Pi 4 with Raspbian OS, and the system boots in less than 10 seconds from the moment you power it on. (It might be even less, but in ~10 seconds, I can SSH into it from my computer as I run it headless).
In comparison, the speeds (sequential) with other storage devices I have tried on the Raspberry Pi are:
Kingston SD Card (I don't remember the model, it doesn't matter, it was terrible): 23mb/s Read, 10 mb/s Write
Kingston DataTraveler G4 32GB USB 3.0: ~50mb/s Read, ~20 mb/s Write
And the SSD: ~300mb/s read and ~180mb/s write.
Its speed (via the rpi's usb3.0) simply outperformed all the others.

A cheap solution for a cheap Raspberry Pi that simply boosts its speed.
It falls behind in performance and reliability over time compared to other SSDs. As examples, I can mention Samsung's 850 & 860 Evo, Sandisk SSD Plus, and Adata SU800, which I have personally experienced. Out of the three that were purchased, one stopped working after about a year of use. The price has dropped significantly (as of 03/12/2018), but this applies to all SSDs on the market.
In my opinion, it's a mediocre choice. I would recommend looking for something else.

Very good and reliable disk, I have already transferred it to 2 computers and 2 laptops and they became functional again.
Its was brought as a gift and my friend says that it is very fast and works as it is supposed to, sooo Yea.
Maybe I'm lucky with Kingston SSDs since I have 4 and none of them have had any issues.
In my main PC, I have the KINGSTON A400 480GB (SA400S37480G) for data and it has reached 10,000 hours of operation and almost 3,000 power cycles without experiencing almost anything!

I just added an additional A400 120GB for the operating system (SATA-III speeds in the second photo),

It has been working non-stop for 3.5 years without any problems or decrease in speed/performance...! Combine it with a tiny11 operating system and it will elevate any forgotten or non-functioning computer
I started working with SSDs in general 5 years ago and since then I haven't thought about going back to HDDs. As for this specific one, it is reputable, it is as fast as it claims, and no matter how many formats you do, its performance will not decrease like a mechanical hard drive
In November 21, I bought a used hp 250 notebook g3. This laptop has a 500GB Western Digital HDD. I had no complaints until I did the first format on the 23rd, the computer started to have issues as it constantly wouldn't recognize USBs and took a long time to open. I didn't pay much attention as I deleted some files, but the difference wasn't very noticeable. Sometime in October, our HDD said goodbye. My laptop showed signs that the hard drive was not healthy and that it would need to be replaced. So I did, I bought this specific disk and after 2 months of use, I can say that the differences are noticeable, the computer opens in seconds and the programs even faster, it's definitely worth the money and more
For its price, it is good! Whoever is looking for a fast storage drive to revive an older machine or laptop and make it perform better, this drive is just what you need... of course, there are better options but not at this price!
Particularly impressive disk.
I put it in my laptop as the main one and I must admit that I was impressed with the compatibility.
I installed Windows 7 x64 without any issues at all (I expected to need extra drivers, etc.)
It is faster than the HDD, but the difference is not particularly noticeable.
It definitely does not reach the speeds it promises (it is a little over half of the promised speed), but for its price (~25€ / 480GB) I consider it to be a pretty good choice.
4 stars as I have not had it for even a month and I do not know how reliable it will be.

I have a Turbox laptop from 2007 with 2 RAMs of 2 GB each, as well as a 500 GB Western Digital HDD. I use it for office work. In the last 2 years, it has become very slow. Especially during startup, it would take up to 5 minutes. So, I upgraded it with this SSD and 2 Goodram memory cards of 4 GB each, and my laptop is really flying now. As for reliability over time, I cannot give an opinion because I have had it for only 2 weeks.
There was a change in an old laptop from HDD to SSD.
The laptop simply skyrocketed, it runs very fast. The hard drive is very lightweight and doesn't heat up at all. Only time will tell about its reliability... but what can you do with 15 euros, it's definitely value for money and it's also Kingston!
Only giving it a 4 because i can’t see the full potential of the ssd. But i put it in my ps3 fat so that’s why. Well worth the money as i did see some loading time improvement.
From the first day I installed the disk without an operating system, the HD Sentinel showed that it had 75% performance. I was surprised and immediately changed the SATA cable with a new one. No difference. The performance remains the same and I tried it in all ports in case something else was causing it. I went for Kingston for better results, but it seems like it's not worth the money
I am glad that new technology still lowers prices in the old one. This way we can buy better and more technology at better prices.
Honest, easy-to-use SSD. It does what it promises, although it doesn't promise much. Good value for money. Ideal for old systems and desktop computers.

Very fast and high capacity
The classic SSD that boosts older laptops combined with more memory. I have purchased several for such use and have not heard any complaints.
After a year of light use, it broke down. It shows Satafirm 11.
I did an RMA with Kingston and they sent me a replacement without needing to return the old one. I did have a screenshot from the BIOS showing Satafirm 11.
Of course, it's not as fast as Samsung SSDs, but in my experience (3+ years), it's very reliable and a great value for its price. It's definitely a huge difference from an HDD.
I don't have much experience in this field, but if you have an HDD and switch to it, it's like night and day. Great value for money
Let's start, I have the 2011 laptop with the Kingston SSD, even though it's only 240GB, it gets the job done (as long as it has a fan next to it). When downloading on Steam, it reaches 16MB per second (per second), so I recommend it
I have two of them and have been using them for more than two years on both my laptop and desktop. Although they are not the fastest, they are reliable so far.
I purchased this specific SSD (Kingston A400 SSD 960GB) in September 2021, and I mainly used it as a "Backup/games drive" and didn't use it much. However, recently I encountered the fatal "PS3111" (also known as "SATAFIRM 11" to some) issue, which affects all disks with faulty PHISON chips. When this happened, it didn't display the partition with the data I had inside, but instead showed a 20MB partition named "PS3111" both in Windows Disk Management and in the BIOS.
Based on my research, it seems to be a fairly common problem that occurs either due to chip quality or firmware corruption, or both. Depending on the case, the "data" remains stored in the memory, but the SSD controller prevents access to the data.
With all this information, I contacted Kingston's customer service for repair or replacement. They asked for proof of purchase and photos, which I provided, and they responded that they would send me a new one. They gave me a tracking code for the product through DHL and informed me that I didn't even need to send back the faulty product and could dispose of it for recycling. They delivered the new SSD to my place after a week and a half without any charges.
At this point, I decided to open the faulty one and try to repair it. I found a translated guide from Russian (https://stupidhouse-ru.translate.goog/node/14/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=hu&_x_tr_pto=wapp) and a German one (https://www.elektroda.com/rtvforum/topic3859967.html) that explain the steps and tools needed to restore the disk. To do this, you need to open it with a torx screwdriver, not a PHILLIPS type (which means removing the warranty sticker), and perform a procedure (shorting 2 points with a wire or cable, see photo) that allows it to enter the appropriate mode for firmware flashing (at least that's how I understood it). By following these two aforementioned links and some other sources, I managed to get it working again and have an extra SSD, but without saving any files. I will not use them to store important documents/files, and if I were in your position, I would not buy this specific model, but I will update if anything new arises (e.g., if it continues to show the same problem with the new SSD they sent me). I would also like to add that this is not only a problem with the A400 series but also occurs in other models of Kingston and even other brands... I quote a comment:

It was installed on an ASU's aspire laptop model 2008-2009.
Where it was once considered trash, the laptop came back to life.
Of course, due to the motherboard, the hard drive doesn't reach the final speeds it claims. But if I were to go with 10%, the speed now goes up to 80-90%.
And if you add RAM (usually up to 4GB for these old laptops), it doesn't make a big difference, but it helps.
And even if you don't add RAM, the SSD has a function that works as RAM on its own. I highly recommend it

A very good and quite fast disk for its price and for the SATA 2 connection used, which remains to prove its reliability over time. I have owned it for 1 month. It is also more easily compatible compared to another KIOXIA disk I have.
Unfortunately, after 4 years it constantly produces blue screens. With minimal use (the laptop was barely open for 100 hours) due to mobile and tablet usage. Unacceptable for such a big name like Kingston. I replaced it with my old HDD and will order a Toshiba SSD
Extremely satisfied with the speed, now let's see how it holds up over time - we'll talk again in 2-3 years! For the money though, it was top notch when I got it!
4 refurbished laptops were purchased for the children.
They worked on Compal FL-90, Thinkpad T-61 (14") but couldn't boot on Clevo M765S.
After some research, it was found that although cheap, it is not as compatible with old laptops.
For a simple and affordable SSD for an older or weaker laptop, it is very good and definitely something that is needed. However, sometimes the computer may have other bottlenecks and may not make a huge difference like SSDs did when they first came out, but that doesn't mean it's not good. Highly recommended!
