Description

Love is a cornerstone of Orthodox faith and one of the most important and complex concepts. The importance of love is expressed by Saint John the Theologian: "God is love". Any philosophical or logical approach to the above definition is doomed to fail. Therefore, a different approach and exploration of the concept and meaning of love is necessary.

Throughout the centuries, the Fathers of the Church have tried and largely succeeded in providing us with enough elements: interpretations, clarifications, methods, and advice, so that we can respond with dignity to this great issue of our lives called "relationship". Relationship with ourselves, relationship with our fellow human beings, and above all, relationship with God.
In modern life, the need to delve into love seems more urgent than ever. The fast pace of everyday life, the abundance of often useless information, and the suffocating pressure exerted on today's individuals from all sides (political, ethical, social, work-related) lead them with mathematical precision to submission and despair. These conditions give rise to anger, which quickly turns into hatred, and hatred is a sickness, it is death. Death that is both spiritual and psychological, in other words, total death.

The power of love is enormous, and the following reasons will help us realize it more deeply. We will discover that there is a way out and a way to positively resist all adversities.

The "Parrhesia" publications deliver a selection of speeches and interpretations by Saint Nicholas of Serbia (Velimirović), Elder Justin of Celije (Popović), and Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica, with the certainty that they will help all of us become better human beings.
