Description
In the context of an expanded interpretation of the Nietzschean phrase "God is dead," an attempt is made to show that the "death of God" constitutes an inner boundary event, with which man inaugurates the adventure of a radical - by its very nature contradictory - confrontation with the metaphysical dimension. On the one hand, he (critically) judges the logic of subsuming himself to an external, abstract, and sovereign God, the bearer of infinity. On the other hand, he is tempted by the philosophical intensity of the need to choose one of the two central possibilities to express its ambiguous greatness, namely the quality of the project of self-transcendence. In one case, the human being tends to appropriate the authoritarian character of the "dead" God, transforming the feeling of powerlessness caused by the threat of the abyss into a will to impose. In the other, it opens up to a perspective of elevation, where it develops ways of responding to the movement of another, questioning divine that addresses us. The course of reasoning is completed with the discussion of certain critical viewpoints - for the subject of research - such as those of Nietzsche, Haar, Heidegger, Granier, Lorenzatou, and Corbin.
