It sounds very good. My amplifier has been enhanced with high-quality analog sound, it's not a coincidence that vinyl is making a comeback!!! I got the lp3xbt model with Bluetooth. I didn't have my own turntable before and I declare that now I understand what I was missing.
For its price, it is a very good turntable if you consider that it is automatic and has a built-in preamp! It is perfect for someone who wants to start their journey into the world of vinyl now! Good build quality and decent sound quality!
Very good entry-level turntable, it has nothing to envy from others that you can find up to 300 euros more expensive. Solid construction, nice sound, good AT91R cartridge, personally I don't find a reason to put a better cartridge, I don't understand why someone would spend more when the difference in sound is imperceptible. I like that it is automatic so you don't have to be on top of it when the side finishes. It has an option for 12'/7' and 33/45 RPM, without having to move belts, etc. Also, easy adjustment of the counterweight and slow needle drop.
After about 2 months of use, the anti-skid stopped working, causing the arm to slide towards the center as soon as it was placed on the vinyl. I don't know if this happened only with this specific device or if it's a more general problem, but reading reviews on other models of the company, I realized that they significantly lack reliability and material quality.
Even the sound (... as much as I managed to hear before it broke) didn't satisfy me: very intense midrange, making it tiring.
It would also be good to buy an external amplifier.
His own is completely cheap, it exists only for commercial purposes.
In conclusion: I spent 275 euros on a completely useless device!
H Audio Technica has always been a very serious and respected Hi Fi company, whose products are highly appreciated by the public. This reputation, as well as the review by What Hi Fi, which ranked this particular turntable as the best budget-entry level turntable for 2017, led me to purchase it for 275 euros. Even from the unboxing, the good quality of its construction is evident. Everything is properly and ergonomically placed, and the assembly instructions are very informative, even for someone buying a turntable for the first time. The installation of the included headshell, the Dual Magnet Audio-Technica AT-91R, is very easy. It is also very easy to balance the tonearm and adjust the tracking force and antiskating.
The turntable follows the classic belt drive construction and is very user-friendly. It is automatic, but can also be used manually. Fortunately, for me, it does not have USB ports and other gimmicks that, in my opinion, only harm the sound and have questionable results in digitizing LPs. On the contrary, it has a built-in phono stage, which means that this turntable can be directly connected to an amplifier that does not have a phono input. One downside I found is that the connection cables to the amplifier are integrated into the turntable, which does not leave room for the user to use better cables. I also consider it a major flaw that the tonearm does not lock onto the turntable.
Personally, I find the turntable beautiful in black color with the contrast of the red headshell and the curve on the front. On the front of the turntable, there are start and stop buttons, as well as a selector for the speeds. On top of the turntable, there is a selector for automatically reading the diameter of the record. All the switches have a very good feel.
At the back, there is a selector for moving coil or moving magnet cartridge, as well as a phono and line switch, which is used depending on whether the amplifier has a phono input or not.
The sound is excellent, very detailed, with beautiful bass that does not muddy and sweet highs that do not sound shrill. It has a beautiful sweet analog sound, like in the old days when we only listened to music from vinyl records, without the digital sounds that often destroy the sweetness of the music. The sound from the turntable flows naturally and beautifully and can easily be compared to the sound produced by much more expensive turntables.
Overall, I consider it a very decent turntable for someone who wants to listen to real music. It is highly recommended.
Very good turntable for its price. Easy to set up, use, and with a very good preamplifier.
