Description
The Handbook of Criminology for the Police and Judicial Reporter aims to open a new chapter in the teaching of journalism in our country, bringing the science of criminology closer to the teaching of police and judicial reporting. This Handbook is a comprehensive guide to criminological issues, in order for police and judicial reporters, as well as journalism students and graduates, to acquire integrated and documented knowledge of the subject.
The book presents the basic legal and criminological terminology that journalists should use, covering trials, crimes, and criminological issues. It includes the articles of the Penal Code related to crimes against life and against sexual freedom, which mainly concern police and judicial reporting, so that journalists know what the Penal Code defines for each form of criminality and what the maximum penalty is. It also explores the files of special criminological interest - female criminality, juvenile delinquency, cybercrime, terrorism and organized crime, citizen journalism.
In this Handbook, criminological typologies are developed and cases of great criminological interest that have extensively occupied the media in Greece and internationally are investigated, opening up new avenues in criminological research. Finally, the reader will be informed about recent developments regarding highly serious criminological issues.
The Handbook of Criminology for the Police and Judicial Reporter emphasizes journalistic research, highlighting its constituent elements. It essentially serves as the "bridge" between criminology and journalism, providing police and judicial reporters with the necessary criminological and legal knowledge to delve into the cases they examine and present to the public.
