Description

From the state of the 19th century to the strong Greek Democracy of the 21st

"The Military History of Modern Greece" is above all a reading of patriotism, which presents with clarity our adventurous journey to national integration. Avoiding common exaggerations, the historians who sign this three-volume work record not only heroism and self-sacrifice, but also the mistakes that marked the struggles of the Greeks in the 20th century.

After the final burial of the Great Idea, Greece is called upon to respond to the titanic task of restoring the 1,500,000 refugees of the Asia Minor Catastrophe. At the same time, hopes for peace in Europe are disproven with the rise of fascism. The Greek Nation strongly resists the advance of German and Italian forces, adding another golden page to its glorious military history. Ultimately, our army retreats and regroups, contributing decisively to the fight against the Axis powers outside Greece. Our country is tested by harsh occupation, but the conquerors quickly face a fierce national resistance that inflicts serious blows on them.

Wherever I stand, I remember. One race, one name. Greeks.
