Description

The adventures of Eragon and Saphira continue, with many twists and surprises in their efforts to overthrow Galbatorix and bring peace to Alagaesia.

Only a few months have passed since the first time Eragon whispered "brisingr," the word of the ancient language that means "fire." Since then, he has not only learned to perform magic using words, but has also faced challenges that have shaken the core of his existence. After the terrible battle against the Empire's warriors in the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, managed to escape with their lives at the last moment. And yet, more adventures await the Dragon Rider and his Dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by promises that he may not be able to keep.
First is his oath to his cousin, Roran: to help him save his beloved from the clutches of King Galbatorix. But Eragon also owes loyalty to others. The Varden desperately need his talents and strength - as do the Elves and the Dwarves. As worry consumes the rebels and danger lurks from every corner, Eragon must make choices - choices that will lead him to traverse the Empire and go even further, choices that may result in unimaginable sacrifices. Eragon is the greatest hope for the country to be freed from tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the forces of the rebels and defeat the king?
