A series of encounters between a middle-aged psychotherapist and a young woman suffering from the passions of jealousy. He notes about the incident:

Because I have also been very jealous in my life, I know the suffering. We are talking about a massacre, about a fire that eats you alive, internal organs, your metabolism. A part of medical science believes that jealousy is responsible for organic diseases, for malignancies. Its black seed is planted in every cell, in your teeth, in your hair, in your nails. You become irrational, humiliated. You become ridiculous and dangerous for yourself and others. It is closely related to hatred, and hatred is both your crime and your punishment.

"Can it be cured?" my patients ask me anxiously. Sometimes yes, somehow, sometimes no, it's difficult! The psychologist also needs a miracle as an assistant, as in every therapy. Fortunately, miracles happen.

But jealousy is the most capable instigator. Infidelities reach fiery passions as long as there is a spouse. So even if there is a divorce and the rival disappears, so even if the battlefield calms down into a peaceful meadow, the flame recedes, perhaps extinguishes.

A psychotherapy should be a treatment of bright sincerity, a path towards awareness and kindness. Away from me is moralizing and I don't pretend to be a preacher, but kindness is freedom.
